Bolted Wearable Art
This jewelry is a miniaturized version of Chapin’s assemblage sculpture made in his tradition of using only mechanical connections to assemble his art. Crafted using small bolts and nuts, each piece is a precise three dimensional arrangement of elements in space that is strong yet delicate. All of this work combines two and three-dimensional elements, which produce abstract stories. In keeping with the theme inherent in bolted structures, the stories are usually about a mechanized universe, which is both energized and inhabited by man and other fantastical creatures.
